Festival Internacional de Música Antigua y Barroca de Peñiscola

Peñíscola, ciudad situada entre el mar Mediterráneo y la Serra de Irta, proporciona al visitante una gran variedad de ambientes. El casco antiguo conserva las huellas de su pasado, ligado al Pontífice Benedicto XIII, el llamado Papa Luna, y da fe de la importancia de la ciudad en la majestuosidad de su castillo-fortaleza en cuyo patio de armas tienen lugar los conciertos del Festival Internacional de Música Antigua y Barroca de Peñíscola, especializado en interpretación historicista.

The International Festival of Ancient and Baroque Music of Peñiscola specialises in a historicist interpretation of its programme entirely suited to the varied cultural history of the town in which it takes place. The old centre of Peñiscola conserves the vestiges of its past, connected to the so-called Moon Pope, Benedict XIII, and the importance and grandeur of which is evident to festival-goers in its castle-fortress, where concerts take place in its Patio de Armas. Visitors to the festival can also seek out the contrasting attractions of the maritime walk and avenues of the tourist district, where the long beaches and secluded coves enjoy the shelter of the imposing Sierra de Irta.
