Quincena Musical de San Sebastián

La base fundamental de la programación de la Quincena Musical de San Sebastián la forman los conciertos orquestales, ballets, música antigua, agrupaciones de cámara y música contemporánea.
Dado el carácter abierto del Festival Donostiarra, se celebran conciertos en lugares tan emblemáticos como el Teatro Victoria Eugenia, antiguas iglesias, el Palacio de Miramar, el Ayuntamiento y el espléndido Auditorio del Kursaal, obra de Rafael Moneo.
La ciudad de San Sebastián es un privilegiado lugar de veraneo en la costa cantábrica y, dado que la palabra festival se deriva de fiesta, la Quincena Musical trata de regalarnos una auténtica fiesta musical, abriendo la ciudad a los que nos visitan durante más de una veintena de días.

The San Sebastián Musical Quincena is the oldest music festival in Spain and one of the oldest in Europe. Since 1939 it has consistently presented an eclectic programme of symphonic concerts, chamber music, opera, ancient and contemporary music, and ballet as well as master classes. Choral concerts highlight the long tradition of Basque choirs and there is also a Romantic organ course on offer.
With the summer resort as the backdrop to our programme, the main auditorium of the Kursaal Centre takes advantage of the outstanding architecture of Moneo. Of the more than fifty concerts that take place during more of twenty days, half are free entry, especially those featuring ancient and twentieth century music and the performances of young musicians.
